Reunion Dates

The DATES are SET!!

More than a month ago, you received a postcard with the dates of upcoming reunions.
Did you mark your calendars?

This year, we will celebrate turning 65 years old (most of us) at our 47th reunion.
It will be held Friday through Sunday, September 5-7, 2008.

A group of your local classmates are already busy making plans; you will receive more information in the mail within the next few days.
_____

The date of our 5oth reunion has also been set.
We will gather for that event on Labor Day weekend, 2011
(Friday through Sunday, September 2 - 4, 2011)

While it sounds like a long way away, we need to start planning early!

Anyone interested is working on the plans for the 50th,
contact Tim or Barbara.
We would welcome any ideas and opinions.

CCS Hall of Fame

As many of you may already have heard, a CCS Athletics Hall of Fame is being established, with the first induction ceremonies to be held at 6:00 pm Saturday, October 18, 2008. Anyone who ever played sports at CCS prior to 1970 is eligible.

Included in the first class of inductees, we are pleased to say, is the 1961 boys basketball team, whose starting lineup were all members of the Class of 61. Team captain Don Rogers is also being inducted as an individual.

Coached by Paul Lambert, this team went 19-2 overall and undefeated in league play, bringing home the Center State Conference cup to Cooperstown for the first time. This was the third year of the conference.

Team members were (S indicates starters, R indicates other Class of 61 members):

Joe Booan (S), Doug Dickinson, Tim Feury (S), Skip Frey, Jim Moyer, Jim Schaeffer (S), John Schaeffer (S), Ron Smith, Don Rogers (S), Tom Weeks (R), Don Wertheim (R), and Ken Wertheim.

Congratulations guys...we were and are very proud of you all!

Cooperstown Bicentennial

The Village of Cooperstown celebrated its 200th anniversary in September 2007.
The culmination of the week's festivities was an hour-long parade down Main Street.
Some of our classmates participated in the parade, while others came to town to cheer them on.

see photos of some members of the Class of 1961.
